For those of you who spent time this summer painstakingly puzzling out how to get to all the Doni, that effort is about to pay off. The Doni have awakened, and they are giving out Halloween goodies! And not just to mages with the world-building magic pack. They’re giving out goodies to all mages!
In order to interact with the Doni, you *must* get the latest client update. If you already have the alpha client or world-building magic pack, you should receive an email with a link to the update.
Not a mage yet, but want to become one? You can get the base alpha client here, or buy the World-Building Magic Pack for $5 here. With the base client, you’ll be able to Acquisitio sources from the Doni and conjure them. With the World-Building Magic Pack, in addition to Acquisitio and conjuring, you’ll also be able to do the Composio Architectum ritual and pre-order your very own estate.
You can click on a Doni, even from a great distance, and it will tell you via chat whether or not it has any sources for you. However, Doni only give sources to mages that approach them closely, so you’ll need to figure out how to get to them.
Once you’ve reached the Doni, you must cast the Acquisitio spell on it. How do you do that? First, invoke the Acquisitio spell (press Tab to get into magic chat mode, type ACQ, and press Enter or double-click on Acquisitio). You cast it by left-clicking on your target Doni. The Doni will respond by popping up a list of sources it can give you in your magic chat. You double-click on the source you’d like to receive, and the Doni will make it yours.
If the Doni offers you more than one souce, select one. You can cast the Acquisitio spell again on the same Doni to get another source, until it has no more to offer.
What do you do with your newly acquired sources? Make magic, of course! All mages can do Conjurus Artefactum, and any new artefactums you acquire will appear in your list of choices. If you’re dying to know what the “Hand of the Living Dead” looks like, just conjure one!
Mages with the world-building magic pack can also make architectums, and new formas and artefactums will appear in your Usio lists.
By the way, mages with the base alpha client will be able to Acquisitio formas as well as artefactums. That way, if you ever decide to get the World-Building Magic Pack, you’ll already have your Halloween formas.
The Doni will only give out Halloween sources during October, so gather them while you can. Once you’ve acquired a source, though, it’s yours for good.
